Yesterday I worked at the local hospital and it was busy! My goodness, so many codes to handle. It went well. I thought I had the split shift, but, my mistake, I did not check the new schedule, and I came in at 9.00 AM. My colleague asked what was wrong with me, to come in 1 1/2 hour too early. Then I found out I had to work from 10.30 AM till 7.00 PM.

I knew I had to be trained this week at the sister-hospital in a town nearby, but I did not expect it would be this fun and this stressful. First of all, they told me, it would be “a piece of cake”. There was no need to be stressed. Hardly any codes and the calls would be so little. None of this was true. It was very busy and also in this smaller hospital, all the alarms and codes are under the responsibility of the PBX operator. For each code, there is another procedure. At first, they scheduled me for two days training. After half a day, we found that way too short, so they added another day. It was 3 days pretty intense training, but the person who did the training did a wonderful job. It is a nice hospital, where you are known after one day. ” Ah, you’re the one with that cute accent?”

Yesterday, my nephew Remco had his birthday, and today my friend Sonja is the birthday girl. Congrats to you both!!

Again it has been a pretty busy week. 1 day off in 10 days is not exactly what I wished for This new life of mine is so different, but still I enjoy it. Even when it is getting a bit too much. And, dear, dear Joy, I am okay. I am very touched by your comment, you asked if I were okay!

Sunday, was a fun day, although I had the split shift again. After the morning shift, Dan and Ryan picked me up, and we drove to Simi Valley to pick up something from a friend. It such a nice drive to that area. In our city, which is near the ocean, it was cloudy weather and a bit foggy. In Simi Valley it was beautiful, sunny weather. After picking up what we came for, we drove back home. Ryan had to work on my PC for his homework and I started to make dinner. Around 4.45 PM, Dan drove me back to work. The evening shift was busy and went well.

Not so much to tell, actually. Thursday I had the evening shift at the hospital. All went very well.
Yesterday morning, I got a call from the school district. They offered me a job at my favorite school. So, despite being scheduled for the evening shift again at the hospital, I decided to work for that school during the day (about 6 hours). An hour later my contact person called and she asked me for another school, with a severely handicapped person. I did not know the school and told her about the other school offering. She said this school has more priority. I could not refuse it so Dan dropped me off at that school. To be honest, it was almost as nice as my favorite school.
