BitterballenFinally, I added the recipe for the Bitterballen in the side bar. You can find them under “Chicken Recipes”. Joy asked me for it, so thank you Joy, for reminding me! :-)

The stupid headache is not gone! Bummer! It woke me up early, but I did fall asleep a bit later for an hour more sleep. I had to take several painkillers during the day. Hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow. It did not hold me back from doing the things I wanted to do and especially my phone talk and the webcam with Niels. It was so nice to see him again since such a long time. He is pretty much installed in his new apartment and is very happy there. I cannot wait to see him, Thomas and Myriam in 4 months! And of course the rest of my family and friends :-)

After a nice pesto pasta meal, Dan and I went over to the  Old Navy store to exchange a hooded sweater for Dan and buy new jeans. The jeans are great there and there is a super sale going on.  At home we worked on Ruysdael Design for a bit and we will probably go to bed in time tonight.

And as the title already says, 41 years ago the first man walked on the moon! Yesterday, 41 years ago they landed but the other day, they got out of the capsule and walked “around”.

The Apollo 11 space flight landed the first humans on Earth’s Moon on July 20, 1969. The mission, carried out by the United States, is considered a major accomplishment in human exploration and represented a victory by the U.S. in the ColdWarSpace with the Sovjet Union.

Launched from Florida on July 16, the third lunar mission of NASA’s Apollo Program (and the first G-type mission) was crewed by Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin Eugene “Buzz” Aldrin, Jr. On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin landed in the Sea of Tranquility and became the first humans to walk on the Moon. Their landing craft, Eagle, spent 21 hours and 31 minutes on the lunar surface while Collins orbited above in the command ship, Columbia. The three astronauts returned to Earth with 47.5 pounds (21.55 kilograms) of lunar rocks and landed in the Pacific Ocean  on July 24.

Apollo 11 fulfilled U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s goal of reaching the moon before the Soviet Union by the end of the 1960s, which he had expressed during a 1961 mission statement before the United States Congress: “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth.”

Five additional Apollo missions landed on the Moon from 1969–1972.

It was just like yesterday! 41 years when the Earth went to a standstill for this near impossible mission, today, you are one among the very few who probably remembers this glorious event. Kudos!

I was aware of it through my husband. He told me and I looked it up at Wikipedia and found it pretty interesting again. I do remember it pretty well though. My mom was so into this. She was sitting for the TV and we were not allow to talk :-)

Always lifts me up to read about this great, and inspiring accomplishment. Truly an amazing feat that still blows my mind even today.

Great remembrance Ellen! Happy weekend to you!
