Visitors of this site, thank you! 08 April 2011

Published by Ellen under My life in the USA

Since the end of 2009 I have been signed up with sitemeter / Google Analytics. Since that date, I have had 20,045 visitors!! That, to me, is a lot!! I know lots of blogs have many more visitors, but I feel proud about the amount of visitors I already have. My most frequent readers are from Arnhem, The Netherlands, and for the past few months from Georgia (USA). It is fun to see this information on Google Analytics, without knowing exactly who my readers are :-) I am honored! It is also fun to see how many pages people read in one visit. One time a reader read 98 pages!

Monday work, Big surprise, 16 March 2010

Published by Ellen under My life in the USA

Because I had not heard back from my supervisor about my training schedule for my new job, I decided to go volunteering at the surgery waiting room, as I always do on Monday mornings. I am glad I did , because it was very busy. A lot of families of patients were there, and although I had to send some to the main lobby because they had little children with them, or they were with too many family members, they all stayed cooperative and kind. That makes the work there so fulfilling. I had the feeling, that the person, who will train me, would call me this morning. And because I have no cell phone reach in the hospital, I forwarded my phone to Dan’s cell phone. Lucky I had done that, because she indeed called and Dan could tell her that I was at the hospital. So she called me there, and now my training will start tomorrow morning from 9.00 AM till 1.00 PM. I am glad this is finally going to start.

Birthday Queen Beatrix and Coby, Very nice Sunday, 31 January 2010

Published by Ellen under My life in the USA

Today was so busy but so nice. We were up at a normal time and had breakfast. I did a huge pile of laundry, and then we headed to the library. We should have looked at the Internet for the opening times, because it was still closed. Shoot! So we went back home, and I made sandwiches. After lunch we first went to Game Stop, to get a game for Ryan (he saves all his allowances for his games), then to the library again, and we got a good book for Ryan’s English class, A perfect day, by Ira Levin. I had read that book a long time ago, and I suggested it and another book of Ira Levin, The boys from Brazil to Ryan. Hopefully he likes it.

Very bad night sleep, Nice calls, Almost new computer, 30 January 2010

What a night, I woke up at 3.00 AM with severe muscle cramps in my shin muscles in both legs. I probably over trained, not sure. But from 3.00 AM, I hardly slept. The cramps did not go away. And they followed each other constantly. At one point, it was so painful, that Dan woke up from my groaning. I felt terrible, but could not help it. Finally I fell asleep around 6.00 AM and slept till 8.00AM. The whole day my shin muscles were sensitive and now and then the cramps came back, not sure I like this and what to do about it.

Thanksgiving Heerlijk uitgeslapen!
